Owner, Edward (Ted) Heiderscheit, grew up in the Research Triangle Park in the 70s and 80’s with a love for all things baseball and basketball. He was a true “Cub Fan and Bud Man.” In 1992 Ted joined the US Navy and headed off to Orlando for Naval Nuclear Power School. He spent 6 years as a submariner qualifying as Engine Room Supervisor and obtaining the distinction of going “further north, further south, and deeper than most people will ever go,” while assigned to the Submarine NR-1 and USS Boston SSN 703. These were formative years in Ted’s life. During this period, Ted found the love of his life and bride. Together they formed a love for Jesus, family, and friends as they sacrificed for their country. After his tour, Ted embarked on a career as a stationary engineer, and this quickly led him to join Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company as a field Boiler & Pressure Vessel and Loss Control Inspector. HSB provided an incredible opportunity to learn about business and risk management across almost every industry and environment while going back to school for his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Ted applied his engineering expertise firsthand with the people that keep the wheels turning while ensuring risks were understood and minimized by working with the business owners/managers and insurance representatives. Ted learned to understand Risk and its implications as we Live our Best Lives. He learned how hard work and technical skills can prevent accidents. When accidents do happen, proper planning, experience, and expertise can minimize the impact. In 2006, Ted earned his MBA from Strayer University and in 2008 became a CPCU. Ted filled a variety of roles as part of HSB’s Engineering Management Team throughout his 18 years with the company. Ted was the Engineering representative assigned to many of the insurance carriers that Buck Insurance offers today.
During the years of 2020/2021, Ted felt a calling to apply his leadership skills in the community with an emphasis on re-establishing personal relationships, faith over fear, and love of fellow man. He volunteered beyond his comfort zone and experienced both the challenges, frustrations and setbacks of selfless giving; but also experienced the joy and satisfaction when someone says “thank you” for helping them. Ted decided at this point that he needed to start his own business allowing him to offer his experience and expertise to improve the lives of those around him.
